Who we are ...Our primary focuses at Fraunhofer IWES are on wind energy and hydrogen technologies. Our institute is home to more than 300 scientists and employees as well as over 100 students from over 30 countries pursuing careers in applied research and development at nine sites. We secure investments in technological developments through validation, shorten innovation cycles, accelerate certification procedures, and increase planning accuracy by means of innovative measurement methods.  This team is looking for you...You will join the »Software Development« unit at our location in Bremen or Bremerhaven. We get involved flexibly in a wide range of different projects across the institute’s various departments. Our focus lies on estimating the workload and feasibility of features to be implemented, planning the implementation, and the implementation itself. At present, the team is made up of five research associates and a student assistant. We support each other irrespective of our projects and backgrounds. A culture of open exchange and cooperation, even beyond team boundaries and sites, are particularly important to us. What you will doThese duties await you...You will design, develop, and maintain a web-based user interface for monitoring different in-house software applications. While doing so, you will be responsible for the development and integration of all essential interfaces and technologies (e.g., SQL databases or REST API). You will also ensure that existing processes can easily be traced so that users can be guided through them in a simple and reliable way. Furthermore, you will inform users about new and established features and show them how to use them. No two days at work are ever the same!In addition, you will continue to develop and improve the software, contributing your ideas and creativity to continuously introduce new features. You will connect our Python software packages to enable the collection of measurement data and the monitoring of measuring instruments. You will verify the integrity and consistency of the data and implement quality control tools. Throughout your work, you will always be mindful of the fact that the software you are developing runs in critical environments and can be set up quickly. What you bring to the tableWhat is your specialist background? You should have completed your diploma or master’s degree in the field of IT or a similar subject. Or perhaps you have completed a bachelor’s degree in the same field and have several years of professional experience? That would also be great! Are you familiar with Python and JavaScript? Do you have experience in web development, including REST? We would be delighted if you could impart your expertise from day 1! Your profile is complemented by...Are you also familiar with the database language SQL? It would be an advantage if frameworks such as FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and Angular JS were not a new topic for you. This position is also available on a part-time basis, preferably close to full-time. Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD).
