The Sales Engineer (which is a presales role that can also be known as Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or other similar Technical Pre Sales Job Title) routinely engages both internally and externally with Director, VP and C-level staff providing critical perspective and guidance on strategy, investments and innovation drawing upon their depth and breadth of technical and business impact knowledge. This position works closely with the Account teams to provide outstanding technical solutions and designs to our current and potential customers. The Sales Engineer will work with the customer teams based on a strategic account plan to properly position NTT Global IP Networks award winning High Bandwidth IP Transit, Ethernet, and DDoS mitigation service solutions to ISPs and Internet-centric companies, both domestically and internationally by be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. The goal will be to facilitate on-going projects, help to start new initiatives and sell NTT Global IP Network solutions. Since the Sales Engineer augments and assists both a strategic account and sales team, experience as a technical leader is a requirement. Sales acumen, IT industry experience, and previous experience road-mapping technology requirements and migrations is critical. The successful candidate must be comfortable in highly complex sales process and is comfortable discussing technology at both a technical and business strategy level.Working at NTTTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Translate business needs into technical solutions and defining solutions to problems through application of information technology.Lead the technical sales and discovery process and manage internal functional area resources for support as necessary.Conducts deep-dive technical discovery and creates strong relationships with our key customers to become a trusted advisor.Develop a deep technical knowledge of assigned product set. Be the ultimate expert across NTT Global IP Networks products and solutions.Responsible for driving opportunities by supporting Sales teams in positioning NTT Global IP Networks products and Services.Develop strong relationships with Product Management & Product Architect counterparts.Think outside of the box to create a strategic vision for serviceable and supportable products.Conduct regular team trainings on product, positioning, and solution selling.An understanding of the financial and technical challenges faced with running a modern Internet Centric Business.Strong understanding of competitive technologies, competitor positioning, counterarguments and emerging technologies that could be both cooperative and competitive.Work with the Product Development team to ensure NTT Global IP Network is ready to deliver products as they are released.Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs (Request for Information ) and RFPs (Request for Proposal).Develops training materials for presentation to the Sales team, keeping them informed on the latest developments in our core products, wider industry trends and associated technical advancements, and provides product training to their assigned sales team and wider sales organization.Responsible for participating and successfully completing all companywide mandates/training in a timely manner.Complies with all Ethics and professional standards.Complies with all corporate and organizational security policies and guidelines.Abides by all policies and procedures.Performs a myriad of tasks as required and/or assigned.Education/Qualifications Required To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Preferred level of education and experiencenecessary to successfully perform the principal responsibilities of this position:Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, Engineering, or experience in relevant field preferred.Required certifications that are necessary for successful performance of the principal responsibilities of this position are:CCNA, CCNP, JNICA preferred and various CISCO or Juniper design certificationsOrganized and detail-oriented, with project management experience.Work Experience RequiredSeven plus years’ experience in Wholesale IP Transit Presales or similar.Effective negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to compromise to drive consensus.Candidate MUST understand the competitive landscape in global networking (IP Transit), Content Delivery, Denial of Service Attacks, and Internet Service ProvidersExperience with IP Address management and subnets.Skills and Core CompetenciesStrong computer skills, including MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio and Outlook.Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.Demonstrates mutual acceptance and respect of all co-workers.Ability to be a team player, works effectively with others with positive cooperation.Ability to communicate, both internally and externally, in an effective, timely professional and courteous manner.Strong technical and strategic skills.
