An established Japanese logistics company is currently recruiting for a Solution Design Manager to join their Rotterdam office.As a Solution Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping their client offerings and driving operational excellence. You will be responsible for developing tailored logistics solutions that meet the unique needs of their clients. Your strategic insights and innovative approach will drive efficiency, optimize processes, and enhance overall customer satisfaction. TYPE: Permanent, full-timeWORKING HOURS: 8:30-17:30 (1 hour lunch break) Monday to FridaySALARY: €70-100K depending on experience (including 13 months gross salary and holiday allowance) + performance-based bonusSTART: ASAPLOCATION: Rotterdam, the Netherlands (Office based, but Hybrid work may be considered depending on skills and experience) Solution Design Manager Main Responsibilities:• Lead and mentor a team of solution designers to develop comprehensive logistics solutions that align with client requirements and business objectives• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, operations, and technology to design and implement integrated solutions that optimize performance and drive value for clients• Conduct thorough analysis of client needs, market trends, and industry best practices to inform solution design strategies and recommendations• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service offerings, streamline processes, and maximize operational efficiency• Serve as a subject matter expert on logistics solutions, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders• Foster strong relationships with clients, understanding their evolving needs and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and exceed expectations• Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and competitive trends to inform solution design decisions and maintain a competitive edge• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including supply chain, operations, procurement, and transportation teams, to gather requirements and enable the design of effective logistics solutions• Analyse data and conduct thorough research to identify areas of improvement in logistics operations, including warehouse layout, transportation routes, materials handling equipment, and inventory management• Undertake Solutions Design assignments which include; scoping, data requirements, warehouse modelling, transport modelling, scenario testing and user interface design / model testing• Evaluate different logistics scenarios, considering factors such as cost, capacity, service level, and resource utilisation• Develop and present detailed logistics solution proposals, including technical specifications, project time-lines, cost estimates, and expected outcomes, to key stakeholders and senior management• Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for logistics processes, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices• Lead and participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving logistics efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction• Monitor and evaluate the performance of implemented logistics solutions, making adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in the logistics field, and actively seek new ways to improve efficiency and competitiveness• Business trips to their branches in the EU and customer sites Solution Design Manager Ideal Candidate:• 3+ years of supply chain design, sales development, project leadership• Fluent in English (Japanese language skill would be advantageous)• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field• Proven experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations, with a focus on designing and implementing logistics solutions• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations• Proficiency in using modelling and simulation tools, such as AutoCAD or similar software• Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and resource planning (ERP) systems• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders• Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus• Flexibility to travel to EU countries as needed ** All applicants must have the right to work in the Netherlands as the Company is not able to offer visa support. or
